Throttle Quadrant and Control Panel Bundle for PC Combat Flight Simulation
Thrustmaster Viper TQS Mission Pack

The Viper TQS Mission Pack combines Thrustmaster's Viper TQS throttle quadrant with the Viper Panel control panel, officially licensed by the U.S. Air Force. The throttle handle is a 1:1-scale metal replica of the Viper's TQS, and together the two units provide 64 action buttons (including 13 virtual buttons), 6 axes and disengageable detents.

The throttle uses die-cast metal construction, metal bearings and a 16-bit H.E.A.R.T magnetic sensor, with adjustable friction and Cut Off and Afterburner detents. The Viper Panel adds backlighting, a landing gear lever with indicator light and programmable LEDs. It runs on PC (Windows 10/11) and is Plug and Play in DCS World.

Officially Licensed by the U.S. Air Force 64 Action Buttons (13 Virtual), 6 Axes 16-bit H.E.A.R.T Magnetic Sensor Plug and Play in DCS World
Not included / required separately: M6 screws for fixing the base are not included. Thrustmaster's sources disagree on a clamp: the US eShop box list includes an "Attachment system (clamp)", while the user manual lists the TM Flying Desk Mount and TM Flying Clamp as sold separately. Please confirm with us before ordering. A Windows 10/11 PC is also required separately. Thrustmaster states that cloud gaming and streaming services do not support its joysticks; the game must be installed locally.
ProSimHQ Expert Insight
Plan the Mounting Before the Throttle Arrives

In ProSimHQ's opinion, the Mission Pack suits PC pilots, particularly DCS World users, who want the throttle and a matching control panel in one purchase rather than mapping cockpit functions to a keyboard.

The tradeoff is mounting. Thrustmaster warns that the Viper TQS has a powerful lever effect and must be firmly attached, and that its weight may cause unwanted movement when it is fitted with the separately sold TM Flying Clamp. Our view is that a cockpit or support where the base can be bolted down with M6 screws is the more secure plan.

ProSimHQ recommendation: Thrustmaster notes that most cockpits and supports that fit similar Thrustmaster products, such as the HOTAS Warthog, are already compatible, and it publishes a Viper TQS fixation template. Send us your cockpit model and we can help you check the fit.
Viper TQS Throttle Quadrant

The Viper TQS is built around a 1:1-scale metal handle replicating the Viper's TQS. It uses die-cast metal construction, metal bearings for smooth travel along the axis, and a 16-bit H.E.A.R.T magnetic sensor.

Metal Controls

Metal control knobs and metal buttons.

Chaff/Flare Slap Switch

A slap switch to deploy countermeasures, plus blackout switches.

19 Buttons, 5 Axes

Handle mapping in mode A, without virtual buttons.

Detents and Friction Adjustment

The TQS reproduces the Viper's legacy axis rail, with access to the Idle/Cutoff and Afterburner detents through mechanical levers and handle rotation. Thrustmaster states it is also easy to switch to a 100% linear axis.

Afterburner Stop at 80%

The Afterburner module's stop sits at 80% of the axis value.

Removable Afterburner Module

Remove two screws for full travel without a stop. The manual notes the Allen key for this is not included.

Adjustable Friction

Set with the tool stored on the side of the TQS. Friction is factory-set to an optimal default.

Viper Panel Control Panel

The Viper Panel is a backlit control panel with 43 buttons and 1 axis, all programmable in T.A.R.G.E.T. Thrustmaster lists 43 metal action buttons (including 11 virtual buttons), one trim wheel (axis), MODE and PGRM rotary selectors on the CMDS panel, and jettison, laser sighting, jammer and weapon launch switches.

Landing Gear Lever

With indicator light, alongside the TWA (Threat Warning Aux) panel.

Adjustable Backlight

Ten intensity levels, from 1 to 10, with level 5 as default.

10 Programmable LEDs

Managed directly in T.A.R.G.E.T software.

The Viper Panel is included in the Mission Pack. Thrustmaster notes it may also be purchased separately.
How the 64 Buttons and 6 Axes Add Up
Viper TQS Handle

19 buttons and 5 axes in mode A, plus 2 virtual buttons (20 and 21).

Viper Panel

32 buttons and 1 axis in mode A, plus 11 virtual buttons (54 to 64).

Total

64 action buttons including 13 virtual buttons, and 6 axes.

Virtual buttons are disabled by default; the manual describes a function to enable or disable them.
Mounting Requirements

Thrustmaster instructs attaching the base to a support with suitable M6 screws (not included), so as not to damage the handle.

Cockpit or Support

Bolt down with M6 screws. A fixation template is listed on Thrustmaster's support page.

TM Flying Desk Mount

Sold separately. For desks and tables 0.6–2.0 in / 15–50 mm thick.

TM Flying Clamp

Sold separately. For desks and tables 0.6–1.8 in / 15–45 mm thick.

Heavy, high-leverage throttle: Thrustmaster notes the Viper TQS has a powerful lever effect and must be firmly attached, and that its weight may cause unwanted movement of a clamp mounting system.
PC Compatibility and Software
Plug and Play in DCS World

Recognised automatically in DCS World with no setup required.

Listed Games

DCS, X-Plane 11 & 12, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous and War Thunder (PC).

T.A.R.G.E.T Software

Free PC software to load or create mapping profiles for each aircraft.

The firmware must be updated for the Viper TQS to work properly in games. In T.A.R.G.E.T, the manual lists combining it with the HOTAS Cougar, HOTAS Warthog, T.16000M and MFD Cougar Pack so they are recognised as a single USB device.
Who Is the Viper TQS Mission Pack For?
DCS World Pilots

Plug and Play recognition in DCS World.

Cockpit Builders

Bolt the throttle to a cockpit or support with M6 screws.

Thrustmaster HOTAS Owners

Combine with supported Thrustmaster joysticks in T.A.R.G.E.T.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a clamp or desk mount included?

Thrustmaster's sources disagree. The US eShop box list includes an "Attachment system (clamp)"; the user manual lists the TM Flying Desk Mount and TM Flying Clamp as sold separately, and states the M6 screws for fixing the base are not included. Confirm with us before ordering.

Does it work in DCS without setup?

Yes. Thrustmaster states the Viper TQS is Plug and Play in DCS World and is recognised automatically. Update the firmware first, as the manual requires.

Can I remove the afterburner detent?

Yes. Unscrew the Afterburner module's two screws to get 100% of the throttle travel without a stop. The manual notes the Allen key for this job is not included.

How are the 64 buttons split between the units?

The TQS handle has 19 buttons and 5 axes and the Viper Panel 32 buttons and 1 axis in mode A. Enabling the 13 virtual buttons (2 on the handle, 11 on the panel) brings the total to 64.

Can I combine it with my Thrustmaster joystick?

In T.A.R.G.E.T, the manual lists combining it with the HOTAS Cougar, HOTAS Warthog, T.16000M and MFD Cougar Pack so they appear as a single USB device.

Will it work with cloud gaming?

No. Thrustmaster states cloud gaming and streaming services do not support its joysticks; the game must be installed locally on the PC.
