The VIRPIL R1-LEGEND Rudder Pedals are a three-axis pedal set for PC flight and space simulation, giving you a yaw axis plus independent left and right toe brakes. VIRPIL describes the R1 series as its newest generation of rudder pedals, built with all-metal construction and VPC Contactless Digital Proximity Sensors.
The LEGEND variant ships with full-foot plates. It is for the simulator pilot who wants genuine toe-brake control and a pedal feel they can tune mechanically rather than in software.

Independent toe braking is the practical reason to step up from a two-axis pedal set. It is what makes realistic taxiing, differential braking and crosswind rollouts possible — the difference shows on the ground rather than in the air.
Centering feel on the R1-LEGEND is mechanical. Three cams and two springs are supplied, so the response is changed by swapping a part rather than by applying a curve in software.
VIRPIL specifies 3-axis input on the R1 series:
